Conrad has attracted much attention of domestic and foreign literary critic in recent years. Narrative skill, moral exploration, psychoanalysis, feminism and so on are the breakthrough points by which critics analyze Conrad's works. Different from previous studies, the thesis tries to analyze Conrad's works from the perspective of postcolonialism. Analyzing Conrad's works carefully, we will find the postcolonial consciousness that Conrad's works represent is of duality. The objection and maintenance to imperialism and colonialism are both in Conrad. Conrad's background and his unique experience make Conrad altogether and they also explain the existence of duality. At last, the thesis analyzes two devices, symbol and irony, that can picture the postcoloniality of Conrad.
