Besides derivation, compound is the most important word formation. It reveals economy of the language. Compound words are formed of two or more than two free morphemes. Capability of forming compound words is diflFerent according to the languages. There are no exceptions of Japanese and Korean which both belong to the agglutinating languages system.Many linguistics studied Japanese Korean compound verb before. In Japanese morphological process will cause the changes of meaning. Therefore, the point is to study the semantic relations of the formation elements. While Korean compound verbs are mainly formed according to the syntactic features. That compound verbs are sentences on phrases has always been the study point. According to the statistics in "HukuGrouDouSi-SiLyouSyuu" up to 62.8% of Japanese compound verbs are not recorded in it. However ,Korean compound verbs most of which are compound verbs are recorded in the dictionary. Therefore, the comparation study between Japanese and Korean compound verbs hasn't been done deeply.This thesis will study the compound verbs in the novel and the key point is the correspondence relationship between Japanese and Korean compound verbs. And comparation study will be done in morphology and semantics.The thesis will be divided into 7 chapters. In the second chapter, there will be a definition of the compound verbs on morphological feature according to the study content and previous study. In chapter three, monology of Japanese and Korean compound verbs are classified. And then contrast analysis will be done and the some points and the different points will be found. In chapter four, semantic relationships between Japanese Korean compound verb's formation elements will be studied. While analyzing the relationship of Japanese compound verbs' formation elements there will be a contrast between syntactic compound verbsand asynatic compound verbs. Syntactic compound verbs will be divided into: ① V — V structure ② V — v structure ③ v — V structure ④ v — v structure. Syntactic relationships of Korean compound verbs elements are divided into opposite relation, subordinate relation, syncretize relation, and these relationships are studied. Moreover, syntactic relationships between Japanese Korean compound verbs formation elements combined together with case relation are analyzed. In chapter Five, through some Japanese Korean examples collected in the novels, syntactic relationships between Japanese and Korean compound verbs are studied.The purpose of this paper is to find the same points and different points through the comparation studies between Japanese and Korean compound verbs. And hope to provide some reference value in revealing structure characters between Japanese and Korean.
