On Ideology Critique, Freedom And Praxis

Based on tracing back to the origin as well as analyzing texts, this essay sets up a coordinate problematic, and attempts to apply etymology research. It expounds key concepts such as ideology, critique, praxis, reason, freedom, dialectic in Marx's ideology critique theory, and reveals their interrelations and the theory revolution made by Marx. The essay puts Marx's ideology critique theory in the contemporary context. Through the analysis of the hermeneutics debate——significance understanding or ideology critique——raised by Gadamer and Habermas, it manifests the dilemma that contemporary hermeneutics confronts, and inquires into the normative foundation how Marx's ideology critique is possible. The third section of the thesis points out that the vague concept of praxis results in people's unawareness of the double tendency in praxis——theoretical(philosophical) praxis and revolutionary (material) praxis——and the dialectic structure developed from their tension. Clarification of these issues will enhance the integration between Marxism and hermeneutics, and offer enlightenment to establish hermeneutics with Chinese characteristics.
