The present study adopts the qualitative research methods, questionnaire and interview to collect and induce data. It studies the application of language learning strategies (LLSs) of college students and analyzes the correlation between LLSs of the students and their English listening comprehension (ELC) achievement. The finding shows that the most frequently used learning strategies sequentially ranked are social/affective strategies, cognitive strategies and metacognitive strategies. Furthermore, the three types of learning strategies are significantly correlated to ELC achievement. The finding is identical with the results of previous studies and confirms the hypothesis of the present research that language learning strategies play very important role in improving college students'listening comprehension achievement. It is also discovered that more proficient listeners and less proficient listeners have significant differences in the use of LLSs. More proficient listeners employ LLSs more appropriately and frequently than less proficient listeners, which indicates that good control and frequent use of LLSs lead to success in LC learning. At last, on the ground of the research results, some constructive pedagogical implications are offered to the learning and teaching of listening in English.
