Wuthering Heights written by Emily Bronte is a remarkable novel that is often regarded as poetical, mystical, and fabulous. And this great novel has received voluminous comments and interpretations which had diverged greatly since it was published. This thesis examines the peculiarity of its structure, that is, the symmetries of its structure, attempting to interpret it with a complete new perspective. Its main part provides a detailed exploration of all the symmetries: symmetry of settings, symmetry of the pedigree, symmetry of narrators, symmetry of characters, symmetry of plots, and finally symmetry of outcomes. The first part of this thesis is a brief introduction of the author including her personal background, her unique character and her crafts of literature. This can be seen as reference to why Wuthering Heights is such a fascinating novel, and why the author arranged its structure in this way. As the readers always tend to see a carefully organized work in which each part has an intended function and where the intellectual control of the author is paramount and exact, so only by this carefully designed structure can the author fully display the 'subtlety' and 'boldness' of her artistic vision.
