This paper mainly analyzed and discussed the aesthetic thought expressing in the work of Die Bedeutung der Kunst written by Moritz Geiger, whose aesthetic thought, from both methodology and his own attitudes, obviously had the characters of phenomenology. The research on the aesthetic experience was the key contribution of his thought, discussed in his description of aesthetic attitude, aesthetic experience and aesthetic judgment. Geiger explained his idea from five aspects: concentration on the inside and outside, the aesthetic attitude and non-aesthetic attitude, superficial and deep effect of art, happiness and enjoyment, and the judgment to beauty and to something interesting. Geiger defined his phenomenology as the axiological aesthetics, and saw the aesthetic value (artistic value) as the character of a unique subject. Therefore, the aesthetic value was another important content in the paper. Firstly, the objectivity of aesthetic value existed in the aesthetic object with evidence; secondly, the subjectivity of aesthetic value precisely existed in the relation between the aesthetic subject and aesthetic object; last, the variety and absolute character of aesthetic value. The aesthetic theory of Geiger had great effects on the latter, whose expanding meanings would never be neglected.
