| What kind of strategy do Chinese contemporary art curators and critics use togain recognition of an Asian country's local art works from the international art circles,in a context of both globalization and postmodernism? The goal of this research is toanswer the above question and point out intricate reasons which lay behind theemerging of such a strategy. By outlining the strategy's development and analyzingChinese contemporary artistical phenomena and critic, this dissertation intends todemonstrate that the currently important strategy is to let an art work return to acontext of local culture. This dissertation links together specific art works to clarifythe essence of this strategy and analyze its implementations by the curators and critics.It also explains that this strategy is based on the curators and critics' newunderstanding of culture melting brought by globalization, and their effort tore-emphasize the difference of Chinese art with the spirit of postmodernism. |
