On Wentao Zhang's Xingling Poetry Theory And Poetry

This text is the comprehensive study upon Xingling poetry theory and xingling poems of Wentao Zhang , the important poet in qianlong and jiajing era of Qing Dynasty. This text first confirms the important status of Wentao Zhang in poetry history, especially in developing of Xingling poem School, then defines the efficacious nature of the Xingling poems in Qing Dynasty. Here I prove Xingling poetry theory is the best one which closes to essence of poem the best. And this definition is been completed through the comparation between Xingling poetry theory and the other popular poetry theories. The subject of this text divides into four altogether. Section one summerises the thought on poetry of Wentao Zhang mainly. This section sets forth its views mainly from Zhang's inheritting ,correcting and developing to Yuanmei's Xingling poetry theory. In inheriting,I first prove the high praise of Yuanmei by Zhang in terms of historical facts in order to set up the prerequisite, then find Zhang's inheriting and agreements to Yuanmei from three major elements of Xingling poetry theory ----true feelings , individual character, and poetry capability. In correcting and developing,I first point out three major disadvantages of Yuanmei's Xingling poetry theory. First of all, it regards the heart or the soul as the source of literature. Secondly, it places center on the content , overly despises the form. Thirdly, the emotion that it advocates has no difference between good and evil. Then I expound how Zhang concretely rectify the deviation to these three disadvantages, in order to try to get developing. Section two is the exposition to the emotional reflection to Xingling poetry of Wentao Zhang. It is divided into six parts mainly. First part Talks about the life consciousness in poems of Zhang by the example of the mourning poems mainly in order to prove that life consciousness has increased the depth of emotion for Xingling poerty. Second part Talks about the feeling of the universal fraternity of embodiment in poems of Zhang mainly by the example of documentary poems reflecting people's utter misery livelihood caused by imperial court which suppressed the revolt of Miao nationality and White Lotus Religion , and the poems reflecting miserable life of common people of ground floor. The third part In terms of analysing Zhang's love poems , have pointed out mainly that has two major characteristics of the modern progressive thought factor. First , it is regular and single-minded to target of pouring out.Second , describe the emotion between couple , break through the traditional subject matter,and the love surmounting and distilling the appetite.The fourth part Introduce the poems about kindred and township feeling.。The fifth part Discusses Zhang's describing to friendship mainly in the example of the poems written to the close friend, Hong Liangji. The first five parts are all to discuss human feeling.The sixth part Analyse the feeling to things,mainly in the example of the scenic poem used for stating poet's the deep love to the nature . Section three expound the individual character and self -consciousness of Wentao Zhang and his poetry creation. First review the self-consciousness development course of Chinese classic literature briefly ,pointing out Zhang's function and value in this course.Then describe the self-consciousness and individual character reflected consciously or unconsciously in poet's ideas of literary creation and poems from several respects——attention to nature, a large amount of " I "'s words, thoughts of preliminary democracy and civil rights, attention to the imposing manner.Then start with creating and the works , describe the strengthening of self-consciousness from four respects.
