Lin Yutang, one of famous writers in the Chinese morden literature history, was influenced by the Europe and America. His literatural conception connected completely with the western Expressionism. From the 1930' to 21st century , many researchers have emplored deeply into the connection. Most of them thought that Lin Yutang's literatural conception connected with the American Spingarn's Expressionism and the Italian Croce's Expressionism, and it was on the base of the acceptance of Expressionism that Lin Yutang developed his own literatural conception. But at the same time many researchers considered that Lin Yutang misred the Spingarn-Croce's Expressionism, because Lin Yutang ignored the intuition, the premise of Expressionism, and had not wholly known the Croce's Expressionism. We should say that these researches provided with rich materials for researching the connection of Lin Yutang's literatural conception and Expressionism.This essay try to explore into the facts which refered to the connection of both, clear up Lin Yutang's acceptance and misleading on Expressionism, the causes, the limitations and the significance of Lin Yutang's acceptance on Expressionism.( 一 ) Lin Yutang and Spingarn's literatural theory on Expressionism. From Spingarn, what Lin Yutang accepted were, art is express, art has no other material aims except itself, no moral criticism, no literatural principles and no literatural types, and so on. But Lin Yutang also emphasized that literature can teach us to understand the life. He also opposed all the literatural pricinples which tie the writers.
