In the tremendous amount Chinese traditional opera arts, leather-silhouette show is the one that with very long history. It is a comprehensive folk art which assemhles different artistic sorts, such as music, performance, literature, painting and carving, and so on. The leather-silhouette show originates in China, and then goes round the world. Almost in everywhere the leather-silhouette show coming to it will closely connected with the local folk-custom, local culture, local art, dialect and local rhyme, and then takes its root. In its about 2000 year history, an extraordinary rich connotation and gorgeous form have been shaped. Here we study and examine the leather-silhouette show in the view of artistry.The leather-silhouette show of Baoding area has reached its flourish time in both Ming and Qing Dynasties. In that period among the three kinds of leather-silhouette show which actively performed on the arena in Beijing, two were from Baoding area. Until the end of "culture revolution" in the 70 years of last century, it has faded away from the arena. The leather-silhouette show of Baoding is close to be lost now. Considering that it was an art which lived only in Baoding area, with distinct literature significance and potential economic significance for today, saving, collecting and coordinating the materials of the leather-silhouette show of Baoding, making clear the headstream and development of the art which was once splendent in the history, certainly is with importance.This paper is consist of an introduction, a concluding remark, and seven sections. The sections checked respectively, the main art form of the leather-silhouette show; the history of the leather-silhouette show went round the Baoding area and the local circumstance of humanistic geography; the performing program and its performing art specialties; to analyze the aria and rhythm of the music of the leather-silhouette show and present its civilian and procedure manner; to present the technique of making the dummy and the plastic arts; to present part of the list of plays performed in the history of the "tiger tune" of the leather-silhouette show, and part of famous actors in the history and their succeeding relations; in the last section we analyze some important culture connotations of the leather-silhouette show of Baoding and to discover some reasons of the show's fading.
