A comparing analysis has been made in this essay between the vocabulary of Mao Zedong Florilegium and the present vocabulary in the change of modern Chinese words, the evolution of word meanings, the development from the monosyllabic words to the disyllabic words, the stability and standardization of word forms; and the thesis takes the vocabulary in Mao Zedong Florilegium (Volumel-4during 1919------1949) as the vocabulary materials, adopts the two methods ofquantitative investigation and qualitative analysis. So the conclusion can be that the Chinese vocabulary is developing constantly. The evolution laws are mainly as follows: the varied modern Chinese vocabulary, the more and more accurate word meanings and the more and more formal word usage, and the development from monosyllabic words to the disyllabic words.
