| Metonymy is an important traditional figure of speech in Chinese rhetoric. The ancients'study of metonymy only can be seen in the rankings of poets. Contemporary study pay moreattention to microcosmic .The study of the theory is still weak. There is nobody founded whohas made systematic study to metonymy. The thesis will study as follows:Firstly, the definition and classification will be analyzed and summarized. Metonymywill be redefined .The layer will be researched with the distance between benti and jieti.Secondly, on the base of former study achievement, the reason and the orbiting system ofmetonymy will be deeply explored from the angle of culture and psychology.Lastly, the function and using principle of metonymy will be explained. |
