The lacquer wares are one of the most splendid technologies and arts in ancient China. Replacing the bronze with their light practical and colorful characteristics, the lacquer wares had been used widely as necessaries in Warring States Period Qin and Han Dynasty. Sichuan was one of the most important regions where the lacquer wares were produced during those times. With the help of achievement of former researchers, I analyze not only those typical sites and remains in which Sichuan lacquer wares were excavated, but also those typical lacquer wares through the way of typology. Especially the relation between shape and decorations are concerned. According to these research, I divide the development of Sichuan lacquer wares into five stages: the early of the Warring States Period, from the mid-period of Warring States Period to early of Western Han Dynasty, from the mid-period of Western Han dynasty to early of Eastern Han Dynasty, the mid and late of Eastern Han Dynasty. The development of Sichuan lacquer wares also can be divided into following five stages: Start, merge-into transiting, merge-into developed, peak and declining. In each of them the lacquer wares had their own characteristics, including technology combination between shape and decorations. Actually the development of Sichuan lacquer wares reflects communication and mixture among different cultures.Studying the stages and age, I also Compare Sichuan lacquer wares with those produced in other areas in ancient China and analyze various reasons of development of Sichuan lacquer wares.In last chapter, the origin of Sichuan lacquer wares is briefly analyzed.
