Primary Study On The Wars Of Liao, Jin And Yuan Dynasties In Beijing And Its Peripheral Regions.

In the period of Liao, Jin and Yuan dynasties, wars broke out frequently in Beijing and its peripheral regions. First of all, the article takes some important wars as case study and draws the outline of the wars in dynastic order.And then, the causes of the war are discussed from different sides. Firstly , in this period, the northern nomadic peoples such as Kitaia, Nuzhen and Mongolian nationality successively developed into powerful states and often fought with southern state, which made the national conflicts convent from northwest to northeast. Secondly, Beijing is a strategic place of the whole nation. Thirdly, Beijing had been occupied by different army groups since ancient times because of its strategic location Fourthly, the frigid climate from tenth century to thirteenth century made the northern nomadic peoples seek better place in south.The wars, taken place in Beijing and its peripheral regions in the periods of Liao, Jin and Yuan dynasties, have apparent characteristics. Firstly, the type of these wars is mostly national conflicts, while the wars between ruling classes and peasant revolts have a relative little sum. Secondly, seen from the location and strategic tacticses of the battle, most of wars often took place in peripheral regions of Beijing, not in the city of Beijing. Thirdly, the wars usually had a large scale, especially when Beijing was becoming the accompany capital of Liao dynasty, the capital of Jin and Yuan dynasty. And the war that happen in Beijing and its peripheral regions usually aimed to seize regime.On one hand , the war of this period had the tremendous destructiveness to Beijing and its peripheral regions. On the other hand, the wars of this period had promoted influence on Beijing. They promoted the national amalgamation among different nationalities in Beijing and its peripheral regions as well as the whole nation. And they promoted the construction of the city of Beijing and peripheral regions. The more important is a change that Beijing had been from an important military town to the capital city of China, and the power of Beijing in the whole country and its history positions had realized a big leap.
