| The thesis studies the translatability of four-character Chinese idioms by exploring the definitions of idiom and translation. Idioms are the special component of the Chinese language and the embodiment of national flavor and rhetoric devices. Their translatability is positive but limited to a certain extent. This includes an analysis of the relation between language, culture and translation, as well as the features and rhetoric of Chinese idioms. In addition, the thesis discusses various strategies for the translation of four-character Chinese idioms with ample examples. |
