Return Of Literature

The aim of this article is to describe the influence of Milan Kundera's novel conception and his writing pursuit on Chinese 80's and 90's literature, and the 90's is the key point. The novel conception here means Milan Kundera's definition of novel and his understand of novel's function and duties. Chinese writers impose so much moral and educating responsibilities on literature that they usually neglect literature's basic and special character. Their attention is still on many specific and realistic problems. However, Milan Kundera writes in a different way. He often thinks about human being's existence in his writing. I think this difference comes from their different understand of novels. The comparative point is on the deep thinking of human being's existence in novels. Milan Kundera also cares about realistic problems, but, more important, he can surpass it, and thinks about the problems which all people face to. To resist the negative influence on Chinese society which is produced by the produce of market economy, many Chinese writers begin to think about people's existence. This change occurred at the end of 80s of 20th. The social atmosphere's change is one of the reasons of this phenomenon, and Milan Kundera's influence lays foundation for this phenomenon, and in my opinion, this is the most deep and essential reason. Surrounding the comparative point, the author selected some Chinese writers, analyzed them and compared them with Milan Kundera.
