An author, who emerged at the stage of German literature in the 20th century, created his works only from the angle of psyche and regarded the human psyche as his only creation field. He wins a great deal of readers because of his unique style in psyche description, which is so distinguishing that it even can't be classified to any kind of literature schools. To this day, there are few who are comparable to him in that field. The very man was Stefan Zweig(1881 -1942), born in Austria.Throughout his life, Stefan-Zweig created quite many works, including poems novels dramas and biographies. This thesis based on his representative novels and biographies tries to analyze his unique artistic characteristics. In his novels, the characters live depending not on the material world ,but the unknown, colorful lonely inner one-a complete psyche world within which the characters' words actions thoughts and will are all dominated by a great power of passion which is the only power to sustain the world. Zweig showed his zest of the human psyche not only in his novels but also in his biography works. Probing into the biographees' soul, and ignoring the elaboration of historical events and achievements make his biographies distinctive. And by distinguishing, analyzing and comparing the various kinds of mentality. Zweig had constructed the system of human mentality. In a word, Zweig devoted his life to exposing the human psyche world in which he had achieved great success.
