Tang Dynasty was a key period in China's foreign trade development history. On the one hand, since the middle and late periods of Tang Dynasty, replacing the land silk road gradually, maritime silk road became the main passway of Chinese and foreign trade and accelerated the development of Chinese and foreign sea route trade after Tang. On the other hand, Tang government established ShiBoShi and ShiBoYuan to manage oceangoing trade, which changed the previous situations of no administration in ShiBo trade, and laid a foundation for the management oceangoing trade after Tang. From the perspective of sea route trade between China in Tang and Arab, the paper tried to make efforts to research trade between China and foreign countries in Tang through analyzing its development and reasons.The paper falls into three parts. The first part introduced the preliminary contacts of the areas of China and Arab, and land and sea trade before Tang, including mutual understanding, land sea trade communication lines and trade articles, etc. This part aimed to point out the trade between China and Arab in this period relied mainly on land, and the scale and frequency of sea route were limited, but they were increasing; The second part dealt with the development of sea trade between them in detail, including its communication lines, trade ports, sea route trade articles, trade policy and system, development of FanFang and foreign trade, etc, all of which proved the sea route trade became the main form of China and Arab in Tang; The third part analyzed the background and conditions of Chinese and Arabic sea route trade development in Tang from the relative stable unified pattern, open policy implemented for a long time, the stable political relationship between them, the transformation from land to maritime silk road, scientific and technological progress and complementary trade of status.
