| Taiwanese New Cinema is a famous movement in Taiwan in the early period of the 1980s, which is important in Taiwan cinema history and even in Chinese cinema history. Taking specific movie language, aesthetic traits and realistic techniques, Taiwanese New Cinema exceeded the main cinema in Taiwan Society with a new outlook. It faced this special land with a cordial heart, and portrayed the life, history and psychology of a generation in Taiwan, thus it becomes an evidence for the historical and social changes of Taiwan in several decades; Combining with the changed history of Taiwan society, in the point of sociology, arts, and aesthetics, this article rescan this movie movement that has passed twenty years. It explains the social background of the formation of New Cinema, the overall style characteristics of the works, and the reasons for its disappearance. Meanwhile, it explores the possibility of art movies through research on Taiwan New Cinema, points out a possible way of movie aesthetics, provides some academic files for study on Taiwan movies and Chinese movies, and plays an important role for the movie staffs who are in the embarrassed situation among art movies, commercial movies and main movies.The first part uses the analyzing method of sociology, and it studies on the reasons for the appearance of Taiwanese New Cinema from the aspects of politics, economy, literature, movie environment and quality of the creators.The second part, using the analyzing method of aesthetics and arts, it explains why the movement is "new" in the aspects of subject content, scene language, style characteristics, aesthetical characteristics and theme connotation.The third part dialectically explores the reasons for disappearance of Taiwanese New Cinema from both subjective and objective aspects, and explains the necessity of combing the movies' quality of commerce and arts.The fourth part, through analyzing Taiwan New Cinema, explains the importance to Chinese movies, and its enlightenment to those who are engaged in movie creation. |
