| Debate contest, a charming linguistic phenomenon, can be called one of the essences of language. The part of "free debate" in a debate contest, which is much more attractive, can be undoubtedly regarded as "the essence of essence". "Free debate" involves many linguistic elements, which are worthy of study. This paper tries to make both internal and external analysis of the discourse of "free debate" with theories and methods acquired from semantics and pragmatics, so as to seek out the linguistic tools that serve successful exploration on a "free debate". Eventually, the author tries to fulfill her broader aims of developing people's debating skills and enriching the human language. |
