The Reviews Of Rorty's Criticism And Transformation To Mirror-Philosophy

In the 20th century, the most important character in the philosophy is no more than the criticism and rebellion to traditional philosophy. American scholar Rorty, through introspecting and investigating the whole western philosophy history, pointed out that western major philosophy essentially adhered to a kind of "mirror-philosophy" on epistemology. This kind of philosophy attempted to reflect external material world accurately through people's soul or language and obtained the understanding of truth. As to this kind of "mirror-philosophy", Rorty offered the firm opposition. He thought that there were not"mirror of soul"and "mirror of language" at all,and soul philosophy and linguistic philosophy had great defects in their theory. Based on criticism, Rorty carried on the transformation to them in the new pragmatism and proposed "non- mirror- philosophy". The "non-mirror-philosophy" was a kind of Hermeneutics and edifying philosophy, which denied common criterion. Its goal did not find the truth but kept talking.The proposition of "non-mirror-philosophy" had positive effects to exchange and development of culture, but he moved towards another extreme when he denied the objectivity of knowledge and pursued coordination. Only Marxist philosophy, based on practice, has not only solved the objective problem of knowledge realistically, and with the introduction of public perspective, has realized the unity of objectivity and coordination.
