As the earliest one of all the bibliographies which still exist in China, Hanzhi has great cultural value and has given much edification to the successors. It is the first book that tried to seek the learning origin of Zhou and Qin dynasties, furthermore it can illuminate the state of the ancient books. Its double value between the catalog and culture attracted a lot of scholars' attention, and the studies on it have being lasted for two thousand years and the achievements come out continuously. Therefore, it is necessary to sum up the whole historic studies including their gain and loss, success and failure. By means of the summary we can deduce some regular perspectives. However, there are numerous scholars who continuously and persistly work on it since Han dynasty, and the thread is boundless and indistinct. This paper puts forward that the whole study can be classified into four schools and each of them shows its own characteristics.The first one is the historic annotation school. They discussed Hanzhi when they annotated History of the Former Han Dynasty (《汉书》).This school put the importance on the research original data and historical text. Virtually, this sort of study is a good way to acquire knowledge but is lacking in the analysis of the structure, composing, system and function of Hanzhi's bibliography. Secondly, bibliography noumenon school focused on Hanzhi's bibliographic attribute. This school transferred the study from history to theory. The scholars were bent on deducing theoretic character and value from Hanzhi. Thirdly, the learning textual research school based their study on Hanzhi's cultural value. This school regarded bibliographic essence as hunting learning headstream. Correspondingly, WHY and HOW to hunt learningheadstream was emphasized. The last special school devoted their mind to Hanzhi itself. This school intentionally conducted a separate and special study. Some thought much of the culture of the literature, others set great store by opening out the source of Hanzhi' s cultural value.These four schools had their own special theories and methods, and reached their own unilateral profundity. In conclusion, the track of the study on Hanzhi during the past dynasties converted to a more reasonable phase by which from words explaining to analyzing learning headstream; from textual researching and emendating ancient documents to stretching forward Hanzhi' s bibliographic noumenon attribute; from partly thinking to integral consideration.
