The military technology universities are the bases of the cultivation of our modern high-tech professionals. Quality of the students is of much importance to the modernized construction of our army. With the development of open-reform policy and market economy, people's orientation of values, ethnic criterion, outlook on life were all challenged by the new culture. As for the poor working environment and rigorous management of our army, there is a downward tendency in the attraction of the army to the common university students and high-tech professionals. Some military technical officers feel uneasy and reveal thire willingness to change their work. Although the military supervisors have already realized the problem and have tried some policies to better this situation, there is still a little improvent. Howerver, the most important factors that are influencing those peoples' attitude towards their work is something inside and psychological, that is the occupational interest and vocational values.Occupational interest and vocational values play an important role in peoples' occupational behaviors. If the work one does fits well to his or her work envionment, one is most likely to exert his or her full skill and bring the explorating and creating desire into play. They can also strenthen theadaptive ability, stability and satisfaction of one's career. However, this kind of research is a blank in the military area. Therefore this study hopes to explore the occupational psychology of undergraduates in the military technology universities. On one hand, it can enrich the study of military occupational psychology. On the other hand, it can provide some theoretical evidence for the attraction, election, cultivation and remaining of the military high-tech professionals. This study made a survey of 380 undergraduates in military technology universties with the Holland Occupational Interest Inventory, the Vocational Values Inventory and self-designed Occupational Psychology Questionnaire, analyed the characteristics of the occupational interest and vocational values of those students, and explored the factors influencing their occupational choice. The main results are as follows:(1) The occupational interest types of military technology undergraduates are investigative and social, which fits well to the military technical occupations. However, there are still some undergraduates whose interest doesn't fit well.(2) Significant differences are found in the occupational interest and vocational values among undergraduats of different genders and different grades. Males fit in with the military technical occupations better than females.(3) Significant differences are found in the vocational interest among different grades on the conventional type.(4) The occupational interest and vocational values of undergradrates are related to their family background. There is a certain kind of relationship betweent occupational interest and vocational values.(5) People with different types of interest have different feelings ofsatisfaction. The high realistic and high social type has the greatest work satisfaction.(6) Males values development more than females. The health protection factors are likely to be more important with the grade hightens.(7) The undergraduates are not only influenced by the interest and values, but also affected by a set of social and psychological factors in their thoice of military technical occupations.
