Professor Wu Lingfen is a famous modern Chinese educator of Chorus conducting. She has been active in the art stage of conducting at home and abroad since the 1960s. Meanwhile, she makes great efforts to engage herself in the teaching and rehearsal of chorus conducting. For recent years, based on the she has summarized a series of teaching techniques for Chinese learners to use, and formed rich teaching experiences. The techniques and experiences have become a huge wealth in teaching circle of China's chorus conducting. The experiences absorb advanced teaching concepts of music in the modem world. To a large extent, they have solved many problems which have long hindered the development of the Chorus art in China. She has made much attempt to connect Chinese Chorus conducting in line with the international one.Part one: The paper aims to study professor Wu Lingfen's teaching chorus conduchting. It, through her classroom teaching and chorus rehearsal,comprehensively introduces her teaching thinkings, methods, and a cademic thoughts, then gives thems a thorough research. The paper falls into three parts:Part two: The introducion of her teaching concepts around the original works in chorus conducting. Her concepts, seen from the perspective of conducting function, prove to be scientific and reasonable, and they have the practical value in the circle of chorus conducting in China.Part three: The introduction of her three important technical theories of conducting rhythm and their teaching practice. The three theories include the theory of rate of rhythm, the theory of beating-up and the theory of core words. This part analyzes the instances of and her unique methods of training.
