Reader's Response And C-E/E-C Translation

This paper elaborates the reader's response and CE/ EC translation in six chapters.The first chapter presents an overall picture of the study of reader's response applied in CE/ EC translation. Then it moves to focus on the status of the reader in text processing and its categories. The discussion introduces the reader-dependency in literary criticism and the nature of the interplay between the text and the reader in text processing in the light of schema theories.The second chapter covers the various goals of translation, especially in account of the reader's response and its insufficiency. Then, in Chapter three, based on the theoretical reviews, a model of reader- response theoretic translation equivalence shall be proposed as an alternative to the current notion of translation equivalence. I shall also suggest an outline of criteria for translation quality assessment on the basis of the alternative model.I shall then proceed to distinguish under what circumstances will the translation attain the dynamic equivalence on the basis of reader's response in chapter four.The fifth chapter deals with those circumstances under which reader's response cannot be adopted to appreciate the translation.A general conclusion is made in the sixth part of all the arguments the author holds.
