| Everyone knows that Australia is a young nation with colorful natural resources, cultures and languages. Its main origin language comes from the British English, but due to the special historical reasons and the geographical differences, Aussie English strikes us deeply with its own typical features. In the present paper, the writer, based on her personal experience in Australia and her contact with the local inhabitants, will briefly study the history, development, features and trend of Aussie English.In order to present a comprehensive picture of its characteristics in phonology, lexis and current slang words, the paper will focus on the description of four major periods that Australia has been undergoing, the unusual variants of vowel and consonant systems, the borrowed words from Aboriginal Languages and the mingled accents brought along by a great number of immigrants. Finally, the writer will further illustrate that as the product of a society's development, a language is always dynamic. People who live in this society contribute their knowledge, culture and experiences to the unique features of Aussie English.
