Many year's theoretical creation and poetic composition form unique poetic theory which is characterized by the identification of both similarity and difference between Chinese and western culture. He investigated and evaluated the aesthetic nature of the Chinese traditional poetry.Recent studies concerning Wai-lim yip's theories mostly elaborate or criticize some ideas. The thesis concerns more about the linguistic features and aesthetic consciousness of the poetry.Wai-lim Yip's Pure Experience Theory, which had aroused great disputes, ran through his poetic conceptions. He aimed to promote the modern poetry with this theory. As a matter of fact, it was beneficial to Taiwan's modern poetry.Wai-lim yip points out that the great gap between Chinese culture and western culture lied in grammar and aesthetics. He thinks that the properties of Chinese traditional poetry can compensate for the weak points of western poetry.This thesis explains some terms from Wai-lim yip's theory.
