A Study On The Refugee In Song Dynasty

Refugee is a most essential element to social stability and study of the history of refugee also makes up important part of ancient economic history. The thesis makes an analysis and discussion on the production of refugee in Song Dynasty, the policy to refugee taken by Song government, and the its effects made by refugee to Song society, hence, it falls into five parts.Part 1 is introduction. Beginning with discussing about definition of refugee, this part summarizes the previous research achievements presents the significance of such study and the method of research undertaken in the thesis.Part 2 to part 4 make up the main body of the thesis, which respectively points out the various elements of and social conditions that lead to the production of refugee. The discussion of governmental policy to refugee covers the precaution measures to refugee, governmental pensions, and policy of permanent residence. In addition, the thesis points out the positive role of refugee in promoting social changes of Song Dynasty.Part 5 is the conclusion. Mainly focusing on the analysis of the unbroken social development of ancient China, this part illustrates the original social root of refugee and its relationships with social industry and commerce.
