| Since the late 80s in C20th, with cultural conservatism reviving, Ku Hong-Ming, a typical ideologist in cultural conservatism, has inevitably been becoming the research focus in modem Chinese history of culture.As a oversea Chinese, Ku Hong-Ming, born in Malaya, ever studied in a few of European nations for many years at youth, and then returned to China to work for Zhang Zhi-Dong as a assistant. His rich experience in western nations and China gave him a great chance to contact with various social thoughts such as romanticism, conservatism and nationalism in western nations and traditional Confucianism in China. All these thoughts influenced Ku dramatically. As a result, Ku's particular cultural conservatism formed gradually.Ku Hong-Ming whose thoughts combining occidental and oriental ideology agree that society originated from automatic development should advance without subjective interfering of human. So human must do anything abiding by natural law. Obviously, the remark comes form occidental ideology. Meanwhile, due to influence of oriental ideology, Ku insisted that politics should be established on the basis of morality in order to successfully keep healthy social order. In addition, for the sake of society progress smoothly, Ku disagreed Jacobinical action in social reform. Also, he criticized fierily benthamism effect on Chinese value view of preferring friendship to profit. From above mention, we can see Ku is different from other ideologists in modern China. For Chinese prosperity, other ideologists disagreed with monarchy in politics, but supported Chinese heritage in culture, while Ku cherished monarchy and traditional culture at the same time. It is well known, however, occidental culture differs greatly from oriental one. So conflict which can not be resolved forever must be occurred in Ku's mind.Ku Hong-Ming pay attention to social reality problem in his conservatism which focus mainly on social order, tradition and humanity. Clearly, study on Ku's thoughts can stimulate our reflection on current society gaining inspiring and reference. This is just the goal I writing the paper. |
