Material is one of the pillars to the advance of society, It has been changing with each passing day in the wake of the development of science and technology, which deepens and rationalizes people's attitude of both nature and themselves. Consequently, people's attitude forwards art is rapidly changing and renovating. Those have brought about a most direct effect that artists begin to understand that material is not only visual, but also touchable. In fact, even our ideology can be taken as a medium to present art -- that is what we mean by material here.This dissertation introduces Hendrikran Loon's "Loop Theory" and takes it as method to analyze various factors in public environmental art .Here Loop Theory is converted into a three-dimensional coordinate system--an overall evaluation coordinate system of environmental art works. By analyzing the influence of science and technology to art, this dissertation expounds the importance of material and its processing technology to public art.Through classification of material used in public art, its manufacture and process, and influences to formative art, people would be able to deepen their knowledge of material ,which at the same time is a change of perception to artistic material.By expounding quality, texture and culture in material, people are found art has changed their perception to material from external shape to connotation, which stands for the realization of artistic language in material.By further expounding the influence of environment to material, a conclusion is drawn that because of the durability of public art, artists are bound to pay close attention to material and the technology of its processing.In the process of modern sculpture changing from volume to space conception. Material and its manufacture and process technology play the role of catalyst. The basic elements in modern sculpture, as well as their extension, designation and creation, can either be impeded or facilitated by material.From this dissertation, a general idea can be obtained that understanding the material in each artistic language will advance the language itself, especially when the understanding is from external shape to connotation. Artistic language can be given a new life with the relief and expression of material and its creative power. |
