On The Compounds In GuoYu

The study of compounds is one of the important subjects in research of the Chinese vocabulary. The monograph study of compounds, as the basic project in the research of the Chinese language history, may exhaustively show the condition of compounds in a history term. GuoYu is one of the valuable material on Chinese vocabulary in Pre-Qin Dynasty. On this, we may understand the characteristic of compounds in ChunQiu and may seek the law of the Chinese vocabulary.There is no general criteria in the academic circle to assertain the combination. The author tries to consult the senior person' s views and the present study, and in this thesis sets up five criteria of distinguish compounds in GuoYu. GuoYu has 3520 compounds, of which has 1048 basic compounds. The author caculates the frequency and describes their word-formations in the light of semantic features and parts of speech. Forthermore, by comparison of the compounds of ZhouYi and ZuoZhuan and ZhuangZi in word-formation, the author concludes that there are comarely perfect word-formation on the compounds in GuoYu and the elements of compounds are comparely complicated and similar to thosein ZuoZhuan. Based on those, the author concludes the charateristic on the compounds in GuoYu as follows: non-balance quantity and frequency, the single semantic, the non-developed single-morpheme word, the word-formation that mostly makes make up of the structural word-formation and the slack forms of some compounds, etc.
