On The Artistry Of Jia Yi's Works

Jia Yi is a famous political commentator and writer in early times of the Westen Han Dynasty . His works include essays , named Xin Shu and a few pieces of fu . His works play an important role in literary world of the Westen Han Dynasty , especially in the region of prose.From ancient times to the present, there are many brilliant discourse on the artistic style of Jia J7's works . On the whole these commentaries are precise and appropriate , often bring great inspiration to later generations . However , many of these remarks are brief. Though the reviewers of the present age have many original ideas , there are still many problems they haven't take into account. In view of the above-mentioned facts , I want to make a relatively comprehensive discussion as my capacity allows .The main part of the thesis will be divided into four sections:The first part : Discriminate the true and false of Jia Yi's works . This part is the premise of the whole discussion . I plan to discriminate from two aspects : (1) Review the history of the Xin Shu's discrimination . Let readers know some important achievements in research , and affirm Jia Yi's works . (2) Whether Jia Yi is the writer of the Xi Shi and Han Yun fu is still a question , so I express my own opinions on this question and maintain their authenticity .The second part : About the artistic peculiarity of Xin Shu . This part launch in a discussion from three respects : (1) Jia Yi's essays are very imposing and emotional , especially in his historical essays and political comments . (2) Jia Yi use a lot of writing techniques in his essays , such as : (a) Adopt some parallelism and antithesis . (b) Discuss by vivid describe , allegory and analogy . (c) Use interrogative sentence and exclamatory sentence express his emotion . (d) Use comparative technique . Owing to his special writing techniques , his essays possess their own characters . (3) On the construction , Jia Yi's essays are very original . They have some characters as the following : (a)Clear-cut proposition and powerful logic . (b) Arrange constructions of the articles by comparative technique . Jia Yi's essays have fair influnce on the later essays .The third part : Discuss the artistic quality of Jia Yi'sfu . In this part I analyse the artistry of Jia Yi's fu one by one , and compare them with fu of the pre-Qin period . So Idraw a conclusion that Jia Yi'sfu play an important role in the development of the fu .The fouth part: Explore the reasons that form the artistic style of Jia Yi's works . In this part I probe into the reasons from four respects : (1) Jia Yi lives in an magnificent times , and it become the base of the formation of his essay's artistic style . (2) Jia Yi has a large stock of information , so he can learn artistic techniques from prehominid . Moreover , since he is a radical , he put strong-emotion into his works . (3) Take a panoramic view of his unlucky lifetime , the ups and downs of his official career make he has too many sigh with emotion . And this strong emotion become the dominant style of his fu . (4) The Chu culture make great influnce on Jia Yi's works . This can assignable to two cause :energetically advocate Chu culture by Han's rulers and the special experience of Jia Yi.As the discussion mentioned above , we can draw the conclusions:(1) We confirm that all the Jia Yi's works we can see today are true .(2) Jia Yi's essays extensively learn from works of pre-Qin period , and form his own style . Meanwhile , his essays bring out the change of the style of writing ,and make considerable influnce on the later essays .(3) Though Jia Yi's fu are similar to the poetry in the style of Li Sao ,they have some obvious characteristics of Han fu .
