This dissertation discusses the contemporary value of Folk through analyzing the literary phenomena of the tendency to Folk in 1990s' novels. The evident changes have happened in 1990s' novels. The most important one is the tendency to Folk. Large quantities of authors, such as Yuhua, Han Shaogong, Wang Anyi, Chili ,have abandoned the stand of a omniscient torchbearer and tended to the stand of Folk. They try to slip the leash of ideology and change from the grandiose narration to the individuation narration. To the intellectuals, the tendency to Folk doesn't mean to escape from the duty as a torchbearer. By contraries, when they go into the folk realm with humanistic attitude and dialogize with the demos equally, the humanism ideal will have the realistic base. Moreover, the appearance of the visual angle of Folk should be looked on as the symbol of the diversification of value. Meanwhile, as a cultural space, Folk not only build up a new object for cultural animadversion but also provide another frame of reference when intellectuals pursue value. That's the other way to enlighten demos and also the last aim of Folk.
