Francesco Petrarch:A Study From Perspective Of Intellectual And Social History

Humanism is the major content of the Renaissance. But at present specific researches are very scanty about Francesco Petrarch,the so-called "The Father of Humanism" in the academic circle of our country. This dissertation investigates the "intellectual background" of Petrarch in terms of intellectual history and social history. At the same time,the present author analyzes the intellectual and social context essential to formation of Petrarch as "the first modern man " from the perspectives of his library,social communication and traveling.The dissertation also makes a primary study of the forming process of the "image" of Petrarch,and concludes that Petrarch created his "image of creator" for the posterity intentionally,meanwhile the comments of Leonardo Bruni influenced the way people look upon Petrach greatly.
