On The Cultural Thought Of Deng Xiaoping's Socialism With Chinese Characteristics

The cultural thought of Deng Xiaoping's socialism with Chinese characteristics is an outstanding component of Deng Xiaoping's theory. As the general director of China's reform and open-door policy, Deng Xiaoping has attached great importance to the socialist cultural construction and proposed a set of scientific and correct viewpoints on this issue which, nevertheless, were scattered in his speeches, talks, scripts instead of being collected in any monograph. A lot of these materials, therefore, are in need of being systematically carded so as to enable us to achieve a further outstanding of the consistency among Marxism, Maozedong's Thought and Deng Xiaoping's Theory, to acquire a more complete and correct mastery of Deng Xaioping's Theory and to optimize the ongoing construction of socialist advanced culture with Chinese characteristics.This paper is to launch a macroscopic and systematical research on the cultural thought of Deng Xiaoping's socialism with Chinese characteristics and endeavors to classify its developing process, expound its main contents, generalize its chief characteristics and elaborate on the interrelationship between it and Maozedong's cultural thought and make a further discussion of the practical significance of Deng Xiaoping's cultural thought on the basis of evolving features of times. The whole paper is divided into four parts.Part One: The occurrence, development and perfection of the cultural thought of Deng Xiaoping's socialism with Chinese characteristics. The cultural thought of Deng Xiaoping's socialism with Chinese characteristics came into being and has developed further in the process of the analysis of "what is socialism and how to construct socialism". And its shaping and development has experienced the following periods: (1) The embryonic stage( 1977-1978.12-from the time when Deng Xiaoping resumed his post to The Full Meeting of the Third Session of Eleventh CPC), during which Deng Xiaoping initiated a preliminaryanalysis of how economic construction was related to science and education and how it was connected with the ideological route of the Party as well; (2) The shaping stage(1978.12-1986.9- from The Full Meeting of the Third Session of Eleventh CPC to The Full Meeting of the Sixth Session of Twelfth CPC), during which the cultural thought of Deng Xiaoping's socialism with Chinese characteristics was characterized by the socialist spiritualcivilization; (3)The mature stage( 1986.9-1992--from The Full Meeting of the Sixth Session ofTwelfth CPC to the Talks in the South in 1992) in which a profound theoretic research on the phenomena that Capitalist Liberalism spread unchecked and too much strength was to attached to the material civilization was conducted.Part Two: The features of times of the cultural thought of Deng Xiaoping's socialism with Chinese characteristics .The Thought bears both the general features of the modernization of the current culture and its distinctive characteristics of times. It is synchronic and foretelling, national and worldwide, scientific and practical as well.Part Three. The Cultural Thought of Deng Xiaoping's Socialism with Chinese Characteristics is the inheritance and development to Maozeding's Cultural Thought. The cultural thought of Deng Xiaoping's socialism with Chinese characteristics not only followed the basic viewpoints of Maozedong's thought but also creatively added more contents to it.
