Early in the Franco-Prussian War,Bismarck had indicated that one of diplomatic targets of Germany is make an alliance with Britain. Though successive chancellors after Bismarck had attempted to ally with Britain,Anglo-German Alliance had not been formed really at last and leading to failure instead.Efforts for alliance lasting about 30 years could be decided into three periods sequentially, including Bismarck Period, the New Course Period and the World Policy Period. Being different in background and process, those periods all ended with failure.Bismarck had pointed out,"No Government is strong enough to stand the reproach of having sacrificed its own national interest as a favour to friendly power. "The essay argued the failure of Anglo-German Alliance was primarily due to their lacking of common interest and their interest conflict.
