Study On The Relationship Between Tang-yin And The Story Of Qiu-xiang

Tang-yin is well known for the story of Qiu-xiang as a playboy, which is very different from his true life in the history. Thus, the story of Qiu-xiang is questioned: it is true or imaginary ?The story is adapted from two pieces of material: the Jin Lin Xu Ji ( Slfc^ifi) and the Jiao Chuang Za Lu( HSF&M.) .But the first two books have been lost, we can't know whether they are true or the real story of Qiu-xiang. Some scholars have proved that Hua-taishi and Qiu-xiang has no relation with Tang-yin because of the great gap in age. And the same story happened to many other persons.Meanwhile, Tang-yin had married three times, the third one is like Qiu-xiang, but when Tang-yin married her, he is over forty years old, and couldn't act as a young servant. From above, we know the story of Qiu-xiang is out of imagination. But why it is mistaken to be a story of Tang-yin? We must indulge into the life, inside and outside world of Tang-yin.Tang-yin was despised by the scholars after being thrown into the prison because of being suspected to cheat in the imperial examination. This event divided Tang-yin's life into two different parts. In the early time, Tang-yin was full of hope of politics ambition and fame. But, in the rest of his life free from the prison, he was refused by the bureaucratic system. He went to the contrary part, getting into wine and woman and living a absurd life. But this can't warm his hopeless and helpless heart. So he was in despair and like other scholars hoping to attain the appraise from woman. There are two ways to revive the balance: one is search for his lover practically, The other is creating his lover artistically through his poems and pictures. He appraised them, respected them and sympathized with them , creating them to express his agony and hope. Especially the third type of woman like Hong-fu, who is what he longed to get and who is coincided with the meaning of Qiu-xiang in the story. That is why Tang-yin is mistaken to have relation to the story of Qiu-xiang.
