The study object of this thesis is the "depraved" female images. And they were in the female novelists' works of 1990s' urban literature. The "depraved" females were those women who deviated from tradition and acknowledged ethical norm and used their bodies in order to gain profits. On one hand, they were beautiful; on the other hand, they were depraved. So they had characteristics of "the Vicious Flowers" in Chinese contemporary literature image galley. Tracing the source of their thoughts by analyzing the characters of the image is the main purpose of this thesis.The thesis includes two chapters and a brief conclusion. According to the degree of character's internal female consciousness and the way they treated the external world, the "depraved" female images were classified into four types which can be briefly generalized as "dependence" type-, "ambivalence" type-, "take up oneself type and "money worship" type. And the thesis uses four parts to expand the treatise correspondingly.The first part analyzes the "depraved" females whose thoughts and behaviors were both influenced deeply by the culture which centrality is man-authority. They had no strong and independent female consciousness, so they earned their livings willingly by depending on men. Some of them became the mistresses, and some of they became the wives like merchandises in commercial marriages in the old period before liberation, in order to gain the security of their lives by matrimony. The "depraved" females that the second part discussed had certain female consciousness. This part emphatically discusses their conflicting humanities which struggled between emotion and reason> love and lust, avarice and morality in sexual trades. And it is also expounds the methods of saving them. The "depraved" females in the third part had wide-awake female consciousness. They obtained ego by losing ego and won dignity by betraying dignity. Facing sexual trades, they were conscious and responsible. In this part, the discussion focus on the state that was contradictory but balanced between the women' female consciousness andsubsistence manners. Part four mainly analyzes the cultural -. sociological and psychological factors which generated the personalities of "money worship" type "depraved" females. Then it proves the viewpoint again that women are not "inherent" but "being generated".The second chapter has two parts. In order to evaluate their value and significance, the author, in this part, not only contrasts "depraved" females with "positive" females but also the works described "depraved" female images with the works for literate women and the works of the female writers those "who were born in 1970s". By contrasting, describing "depraved" female images that was a pioneer try from reverse side to research the thesis of female self value realizing. Contrasting with the works focused on female internal psychic and physical world, the works described "depraved" female images had more practical significance because of their realism styles. And contrasting with the works of writers "who were born in 1970s", the works described "depraved" female images had certain classicality because of their internal, moral concept, showing cultural loving care of characters and euphemistic language styles. Part two expounds the aesthetic significance of "depraved" female images from three angles. They are "character's feature of 'the Vicious Flowers"\ "comprehension and expression of female individuality life will and female desire" and "popular aesthetic direction".The "gender" defects of female are the "phylum" defects of human, and the living predicaments female faced are the common living predicaments human being faced, because the conception of "female" concentrates all characters of noble and humble of human being and every female image almost has two-ply characters of "femininity" and "humanity". So the "depraved" female images reflected the variation and vibration of whole societal "metaphysical" field by their complex but real female consciousness... |
