On Tang Xianzu's Theory Of Supreme Importance Of Feeling In Literature

Tang Xianzu was the greatest dramatist in Ming dynasty,and his position in the history of Chinese literature and drama has been definiˉtized,but Tang Xianzu was recognized by few people that he is also a good literary theorist.His contribution in literary theory is that he reˉalized clearly and made strenuous efforts to promote the feeling essence of literature,and been stimulated by literary trends in Ming dynasty,he turned the traditional theory of literary feeling into the"theory of supreme importance of feeling".At the same time,he also put forˉward his distinctive opinions on these theoretical questions:the subjecˉtive principle in the starting of literary feeling,its aesthetic expresˉsions,and the relation between literary feeling and form,etc.For exˉample,the literary concept he put forward,such as"people at large always have their own feeling,and feeling makes poem","feeling causes dream,and dream makes drama"served as a great source of inˉspiration for literary creators and critics that followed,and in Qing dyˉnasty,the influence of these opinions was still embodyed by Cao Xueˉqing.Of course,been restricted by many factors together,Tang Xiˉanzu's"theory of supreme importance of feeling"in literature also contained some internal contradictions that couldn't be resolved by itˉself,such as the contradictions between the perceptual and the ratioˉnal,which were belonged to the category of Neo-Confusianism,supreme importance of feeling and denying feeling.But these contraˉdictions can't negate the value of Tang Xiangzu's literary theory,so we should make a just assessment of it.This thesis which is divided into four parts undertakes an objective and profound study of Tang Xiˉanzu's"theory of supreme importance of feeling"in literature to from Tang Xianzu's theoretical claim and his creative practice,as well as the history of literary criticism and the literary trends in Ming dynasty disclose the historical and realistic reason that this theory formed,as===================...
