The sentences with locative word or phrase are called as locative sentences in the dissertation and it is arranged with in selected 3 aspects. It aims at exploring the reciprocal relation between components in locative sentence and have reached several conclusions as following: 1. The sentence meaning has a limitative effect on it components. The basic sentence meaning, 揘 + V + at (in~ .)+PP?is seen as 搒omething exists in some location in someway,?while 揘 + V + to + PP?means 揵ehavior come to some place.?This decides fee syntactic features of the verb and the difference between verb syntactic features in two sentence types as well.?N1+at (in..) +PP+V+N2? means 搒ome act taking place in some place?, which imposes much limit on verb. 2. The relationship between verb and locative word is likely to be apparent or connotative. Therefore the difference between the place of apparent word and that of connotative verb comes out. The locative sentence with apparent verb means a single-verb sentence with out any insertion of other words. While the locative sentence with connotative verb presents a double verb sentence, allowing any insertion of other relevant verbs. Moreover, in 揘 + V + at(in~) + PP? if the semantic feature does not accord to the sentence that depicts a static state, the sentence conceals a suitable static verb called as 搕he connotative stative verb?in the paper. While in 揘1 +at(in ..) + PP + V + N2? if the verb抯 semantic feature is not suitable for that of the locative sentence, the sentence contains a proper locative word accorded to verb抯 semantic feature, which is called as 搕he connotative location? so those connotative relationships depicts the flexibility of Chinese syntactic and the principle of less words producing more meaning. Ill 3 M.~SIER扴 THESIS 3. There exists corresponding relation syntactically between verb and locative word. If the verb with locative meaning corresponds to the locative expression, the verb with intentional meaning will correspond to the final location and the verb with departing meaning will correspond to the starting location and so on. b 4. The relation between sentence meaning, verb as well as locative word imposes an influence on the relation between noun and locative word. Fox example, in 揤 + at(it~)? the location(PP) should contains the noun(N?. While in the sentence, 搒ome act taking place in some place,?the noun is not likely to be in location (PP). Furthermore, if the relation between verb and locative word is a relation between departing and starting, the noun (N) need not be in location (PP).
