The Communicative Method In Intensive English Teaching

ntensive English is one basic course for English majors in teachers?colleges. This course has a long history and has greatly influenced students?English learning. In the past, teachers were accustomed to adopting traditional method in their teaching: students? integrated skills were not fully developed. Although they have solid grammatical knowledge of English language, they can not carry out the real communication and the positive role of learning English could not be performed. So the reform becomes necessary and urgent in the teaching of this course, the communicative method comes into being. In this paper, the writer first introduces the status of the Intensive English Course in college study, and then analyses the defects and problems of traditional methods in teaching. Based on the above analysis, the writer demonstrates the application and implication of the communicative method. And the writer sticks to such a view that the communicative method is an effective way to develop students?English learning for English majors in teachers? colleges.
