The imperial examination policy of the minority nationalities was a product ofthe peculiar multiracial society of Yuan Dynasty. It was produced between thecultural diversity and the special political pattern in Yuan Dynasty. The recurrentbeneficial conflicts among the nationalities gave the examination a strong ethniccharacteristics.Crisis and opportunities determined the imperial examination system toguarantee the fate of the benefit of the ruling nations whose culture disadvantaged. Inthe evolution to the imperial examination policies of the other dynasties, theexamination policies of the minorities of the two-exam-set systems appeared at thattime. This process was not only a contest one of the power of the vested interestsgroup but also a moving-forward, encompassing and even approbatory one of thecultural value of the different nationalities.Essentially, the two-exam-set system based on the four-ethnic policy was a resultof the beneficial balance of the nationalities. The greatest charictiritic of the policygrades was that the discrimination degree was gradually strengthening from theSe-mu, the Chinese to the Southerners alternating with hauteur to the formers. Thepolicy to slant Mongolian and Se-mu led to win-win of the Mongolian and theChinese. The Confucian's concession won the opportunities to carry out the imperialexamination policy. The rulers won the scholars'support, but leaving a debate ofdiscrimination.Sixteen examinations enrolled a lot of chin-shihs, who later brought an honestand incorruptible political style to the bad existing system of Yuan Dynasty. Thecontacts of the chin-shihs from different nationalities promoted the national culture. And the examination system gave more privileges to the Mongolian and Se-mu,which encouraged them to study Confucianism, but the fraud and corruption emergedone after another with the utility temptation. Mongolian characters were not carriedout as a policy for answer sheet. This policy ended up with the disintegration of thepolitical power of Yuan Dynasty.
