The Effects Of Anxiety Arousal And Warning On Relatedness False Memory

In real life, people often incorrectly recall the events that had never experienced or the event they recall or recognize from their experiences is entirely different from the real situations. Many studies indicate that human's memory were not as reliable as it looks like. Instead, it's very sensitive to external interference or misleading information, and they may even change spontaneously. These characteristics of false memory make it become a hot issue in memory research in recent years. Researchers suggest that false memory is due to the competition of activation and monitoring. But most of the studies explored it either from the activation or monitoring, lack of interaction studies. And even the unilaterally studies had not yet gotten the consistencies results; This study adopts DRM paradigm from the point of monitoring to investigate warning's effect on false memory first; then studied the effects of emotional (anxiety) arousal on false memory from the perspective of the activation; At last, we explored the emotional arousal and warning's combined effects of false memories. The following are conclusions:(1) Only the warning appears before study can effectively reduce the false recognition of critical lure; when the warning appears after study but before the test, warning is no longer valid.(2) At low level of anxiety state, the false recognition of critical lure was significantly lower than the medium-anxiety and high anxiety level, subjects at high level of anxiety are subjected to the highest rate of false recognition, and was significantly higher than the low anxiety level, the false recognition of critical lure tended to increase as the levels of anxiety did;(3) The subjects at anxiety and no warning group encountered the highest false recognition, and the warning and control group induced the least false recognition rate; warning can reduce people's false recognition of critical lure. The generation of false memory is the competitive results of active and monitoring, false memory effect depends on the greater intensity of activation and monitoring.
