The Study Of Houxi

Hou Xi (? -823), as a literati in the Mid-Tang period had close contacts with Han Yu . People always pay special attention to the study of Han Yu and the Ancient Literary Movement, but their study towards Hou Xi is still limited.Hou Xi is one of the "Disciples of Han Yu ," His literary work has his own characteristics, especially his LÇœFu. This paper will do research into the study of the historical background, his life and friendship with other people, the characteristics of his works and some other aspects towards him, hoping to obtain reliable material on him as much as possible. At present, only nine of Hou Xi's work still exist, mainly LÇœFu. Generally speaking,the themes of his LÇœFu are wide, the vocabulary he uses is flowery and elegant. What is more, the use of couplets and allusions also has its own characteristics.There are altogether four chapters in the paper :Chapter one is the exordium, mainly talking about the current state of the field for Hou Xi's study ,the meaning and the key point of this paper .Chapter two is about Hou Xi's life ,literary works and his relationship with Han Yu. Chapter three is to analyze the characteristics of his works, which is the main focus of the paper. Chapter four will collect and sort out later writers'works concerning Hou Xi.
