The thesis adopted folk music of Henan Zhumadian as the research subject, applying for field research method, comparative study and documentation and researching into the geography, humanity history environment of the formation of folk music and its form and content, meanwhile, exploring other local music features. It is hoped that it will do good to its inherence and development by collecting and gathering existing folk music at Zhumadian. The main body is composed of four parts. The first chapter presented the geographic and historic environment of the formation of folk music at Zhumadian. With vast region, mountains and rivers, Zhumadian has a long history, many famous people and places of interest are well-known here, coupled with convenient transportation, rich products and developed manufacturing industry, all of these have provided good conditions for folk music. The second chapter demonstrated the form and content of folk music. Produced from labor activities, folk music at Zhumadian is full of rich flavor of life and content as well as various formation, reflecting the labor and living things of local people in different historic period at Zhumadian. The third chapter illustrated its music features. Folk music at Zhumadian is produced with rich forms, special styles and arias with strong local characters. The fourth chapter described its inherence and present situation. The researcher investigated into the inherence and present situation of folk music at Zhumadian, considering the urgency for protecting folk music, it is necessary to enhance the work in collecting and gathering folk music at Zhumadian to make sure that they will not die out by advertising and publicizing to arise common attention.
