Chinese Traditional musical instrument Di, Xiao has always been performed as chamber music or solo. The problem of small amount of available pieces and lack of performing form has been gradually noticed. At the same time of keeping classic musical pieces and performing form, musicians are trying to explore other possibilities. At the end of 20th century, electronic music, a brand new type of music is widely accepted by people from different ethnic and culture background all over the world. Electronic music developed from the early stage of experimental music to variety of commercial types of music; and doubtable contempory pioneer music to New Age music that speaks a global language. Looking back its one hundred years' history of development, it's different culture's sparkle, it's a sublimation of musician's imagination of over the world, it's a common language that the world shares. Love, Peace and Gather are the most important believe in New Age music. Artists seek for genuine, kindhearted and beauty in humanity, they try to eliminate barriers and coldness to achieveharmony. It's the same sensibility as Taoist and Confucianism. Because of that, the appearance and development of New Age music provides a good platform to introduce Chinese traditional music to the world. By study both international and domestic development history of electronic music, with case studies of collaboration of Chinese Traditional music instrument Di and Xiao with electronic music, author will explore innovative performing form for Di and Xiao, to provide sufficient academic evidence to promote brilliant Chinese culture.
