This thesis is the review and study about the development of songs of school teaching materials under the influence of Collision and Integration of two cultures in China in the first half of the 20's century.China has been facing great changes during the first half of the 20's century, which influenced China in many aspects with the introduction of western culture. At the beginning of the 20's century, the tendency of learning from western music came into being due to the rise of the school songs and the coming of the western music. School songs are the first product of integration of two cultures (western and eastern). At the same time, School songs as Music teaching materials are also way and tool to enlighten national salvation.The trend of thought of aesthetic education through music germinated from the forepart of the school songs and grew rapidly after the May 4h Movement. A lot of intellectuals came back from abroad, most of who were well educated in western countries. They no longer were satisfied with the school songs. They want to amend music teaching materials by their own hands with advanced western composition skills.The music teaching songs wouldn't development because of the anti-Japanese War and Civil War after 1937. School songs, for a long time, were regarded as tools for politics.This thesis aims to outline the development of school teaching songs of the first half of 20's century with cultural angle.
