| The conferring honor system is one of the important tools to maintain social moralization, a necessary way to promote the feudal morality for the ancient rulers, and a mirror of the moral spirit and an effective way to pilot the culture in the traditional society of China. To a certain extent, we can glimpse the value orientation and mental outlook of the ancient people though the conferring honor system, which can help us to interpret the ancient society well.The conferring honor system began in the Pre—Ch'in Period, it was paid attention by the rulers in the Han Dynasty and was developed rapidly. After development of the Sui and Tang Dynasty, the conferring honor system was improved further in the Northern Song Dynasty, and it was reached maturity in the Southern Song and Yuan Dynasty. It has gone to peak and also came to the rigid in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. These showed the conferring honor system which almost ran through the whole Chinese ancient society. We can study Chinese ancient society more clearly, completely and objectively through researching it.
