Liang Qichao was an important politician, thinker and encyclopedic master during the late Qing period. The study on Liang Qichao's works has long been the focus of the academic world. The researches on his translations, however, are much fewer than those on other aspects of his works. Little attention has been paid on the influence exerted by his translations on his creation in the past.Based on a text analysis of Liang Qichao's translations- Four Beauties'Adventure and Fifteen Little Heroes, and his novel-The Future of New China, which includes only five chapters, this thesis discusses the interaction between his translations and his creation under the theory framework of Andre Lefevere's Rewriting theory and Hans Vermeer's Skopos theory. As one of the social elites in the late Qing Dynasty, Liang tries to realize modernization of Chinese culture and literature by introducing western civilization in his translations. His translations show great creativity and exert influence on his creation. On one hand, Liang Qichao adopts different translation strategies in his translations in the service of his political ideal, the ideology and the poetics of his time. On the other hand, his creation was apparently influenced by his translations, introducing new concepts, new genres and literary devices. The interaction between his translations and creation can be explained by Rewriting theory and Skopos theory.Liang Qichao's translations and creation enhanced the status of novel in Chinese literature system, and contributed to the construction of modern Chinese literature and culture.
