Study On The Sound System Of The Liangping Dialect

Liangping county , named Liangshan before, lying in east part of Chongqing ,has a long history. Liangping dialect belongs to Sichuan dialect piece. In addition tohaving some general characteristics of Xinan Mandarin dialects, it also has someunique features. In a decade, the researches about Sichuan dialect are obvioulynumerous and have high quality , but there are still some problems,for example, itcovers many places but without deep research.This paper is a study of the sound system of Liangping dialect. First, the authoranalyses the initial system, final system and tonal system among Liangping dialect,mandarin sound system and GuangYun sound system through which the author canpoint out the corresponding relationships, and some sound changes and historicaldevelopment from Middle Chinese to the modern dialect are discussed as well.Then ,the author has made the conclud of the changes of the sound by summarizingthe words of LiangPing dialect.There are three chapters in this study.Chapter One presents the general information about the location, history,administration and population of the county, an overview of precious studies and abrief discussion of research methods and databases employed in the study.Chapter Two mainly discusses the sound system of Liangping dialect, includingthe initial system, final system, tonal system and the structure of the syllables.Chapter Three deals with the viarable sound of the Liangping dialect. We cangain enlightment from the description of the vocabulary of LiangPing dialect.
